For Tim Boylan, South Florida has always been home. His story is one shaped by Miami’s people, waterways, businesses, and unique way of life. From an early age, Tim learned the value of hard work, persistence, and taking pride in what you do—lessons that would stay with him throughout his career and the business he would eventually build.
As a young man looking for a summer job, Tim found an opportunity with American Marine Covering, one of the leading companies in the marine canvas industry at the time. What began as a summer job quickly became the beginning of a lifelong career. Working with canvas, upholstery, and yacht interiors, Tim discovered a passion for the marine industry and began developing the craftsmanship and attention to detail that would eventually define his professional life.
Tim continued to hone his skills and build his reputation throughout Miami’s marine industry. He worked with respected yacht companies, including Richard Bartram & Co. and Allied Marine Azimut Yachts, along with numerous other companies and professionals throughout the industry. Each experience brought new challenges, new techniques, and a deeper understanding of the craft.
In 1997, Tim took the next step and founded his own company, Elite Marine Canvas & Interiors. What began as a new venture quickly grew into a successful business serving yacht owners in Miami and around the world. Through dedication to his craft and a commitment to quality, Tim built a reputation that allowed the company to grow and take on increasingly challenging projects.
His work has taken him beyond South Florida as well, including projects and professional relationships in Ecuador and other parts of the world. Yet throughout that growth, Miami has remained home. The marine industry is deeply woven into the fabric of South Florida, and Tim’s career has allowed him to become part of that community while continuing to learn, adapt, and pursue new challenges.
Since 2008, Elite Marine Canvas & Interiors has worked alongside Allied Richard Bartram, bringing decades of combined experience to the marine industry. Tim’s career is a reflection of the same qualities that have guided him from the beginning: hard work, craftsmanship, persistence, and pride in doing a job right.
Today, Tim is a longtime resident of Virginia Gardens, a community that has become much more than simply a place to live. Over the years, the village has become a place he feels deeply connected to—a community whose character, neighbors, and sense of belonging have become an important part of his life. Tim’s roots in Miami, his career in the South Florida marine industry, and his years in Virginia Gardens have all shaped the person he is today. For Tim, Virginia Gardens isn’t just where he lives; it is a community he knows, appreciates, and is proud to call home.
And that is what makes Virginia Gardens special: it is a community built by the people who live here, work here, and look out for one another.
It takes a village.
